Dear Visitors,
I'm absolutely thrilled to welcome you to my very first blog post! It's a momentous occasion for me, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for visiting my corner of the internet. Your presence here means the world to me, and I can't wait to embark on this exciting journey of sharing, connecting, and learning with all of you.
Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Sameksha, though I usually go by my moniker, Simi. I am a mom, wife, author, workaholic, and a firm believer in the power of authentic storytelling. I've spent a significant part of my life working in various capacities, from being an educator and mentor to a therapist, activist, fundraiser, and certified advocate for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. My professional journey has been diverse, shaping me into who I am today.
Now, let's delve into a part of my identity that's close to my heart - my Indian (South-Asian) heritage. As I grew up in Lagos, Nigeria, with many visits to my grandparents in India and extended family in London, I eventually moved to the United States. I've had the privilege of experiencing a beautiful tapestry of cultures through my global travels. My South-Asian heritage is a vibrant thread in this tapestry, adding a richness of tradition, flavors, and perspectives to my life. I'm passionate about sharing my culture, traditions, and the lessons I've learned along the way with all of you. I am passionate about breaking down the barriers that surround South-Asian women, women in general, and minorities.
The categories in this blog are windows into my world, spaces where you'll get to know me on a deeper level. I'll share my interests, creative works, and personal insights here. Whether it's writing about my not-so-angelic angels, exploring taboo topics, or discussing the importance of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging (EDIB), I promise to offer you a glimpse into my multifaceted life.
So, let's embark on this journey together. As we explore life, passion, and culture, I hope you find something that resonates, inspires, or simply brings a smile. Thank you for being here, and I can't wait to get to know each of you better.
With gratitude and anticipation,
Simi K.
